Caution - poor customer service
We stayed here with a number of other families with young children. It's greatest shortcoming was its surprisingly poor customer service and unfriendliness toward our young kids. The site manager was on edge and unpredictable, and unprovoked, lost her cool on more than one occasion. When we arrived, despite having made our reservation well in advance, the manager told us that we hadn't and that we could not stay! There seem to be some ongoing communication issues between staff. Fortunately, we were able to work through that hostility. The outdoor pool was not yet operational despite promises that it would be ready. Our kids were understandably disappointed, having packed all their pool gear and toys. At the last night of our stay, the site manager interrupted our multi-family dinner, and made a big scene bursting with hostility, launching inaccurate accusations about avoidance of paying of registration fees toward me and another parent, and complained that some children playing outside, were unsupervised. This hostility was more than unprofessional. When the site manager learned of her mistake, she did not apologize, but instead simply disappeared for the remainder of the evening, which we appreciated. The games room was not at all as suggested. Our kids spent a minute in there on the first day and never returned. There were four or five video games, obscure never-before-heard-of-titles that our kids our kids elected not to try, despite having a pocket full of quarters. The playground was small and offered little equipment. Our kids spent a few minutes there but lost interest quickly. The highlights for most kids were building fires near the rocky beach (just days before the summer fire ban began in May), playing road hockey with sticks we brought), and riding bikes, although the site manager was uptight about this at times, expecting our kids to having adult escorts. The adult hot tub was closed at 9pm despite its posted and promised close time of 10pm. Our family stayed in a permanent RV. The propane oven and stove top internal lighter switches were broken. The outdoor barbeque had the same problem. We were able to figure out a work around, although the handheld lighter provided also did not work. We were able to track down a staff person and have it exchanged. We made the most of our time and really enjoyed our company; however, I cannot recommend this resort which is more accurately a campground. In the very least, be sure to get everything in writing as the site manager is somewhat prone to forgetting prior arrangements and has turned unpredictably hostile on more than one occasion.
